Well it is official..I am finished buying my target notes for 2008. Having taken inventory of 08 purchases and to say the least I was shocked at the $$$$$$ invested into high grade notes added to the collection. 2008 saw the addition of 3 notes from the Tom Flynn Collection, a very rare National Bank Note $1 from NY, several Large size notes in Gem condition that are currently at PCGS awaiting their mylar resting places..LOL The Small size New York collection grew to an incredibile size with all notes except 4 being CHCU or Gem....it is getting more difficult to locate the remaining notes I need so the eyes are watching for sure! I have had the great pleasure of interacting with all of you and seeing your collections grow as well. Some of you I feel like I have known you for quite a while and others I am just getting to know. Many of you have a wealth of knowledge, willingness to share that knowledge and a heartfelt passion to do the research to provide such information..kudo's to you! In the near future I will be away for a few weeks on vacation with my family in the Islands on a 54' liveaboard Catamaran.....oh how sweet that will be again. No internet connection on this one..LOL Looking ahead to 2009, I have my sights on several large size additions that will perhaps surprize me and you! These are special rare notes that will quickly surpass my 2008 purchases..although they are targets, I must moderate and control this appetite for Gem Rare Notes..heck it will eat me alive..LOL So all in all, thank you friends for being who you are and making contributions to what I think is the best fourm on the net... So now for the time being, I will sit back and enjoy the next 45 days or so reflecting on 2008 and the collection goals. Best of hunting to you all....and thanks for all you have provided to this fourm. Regards, RickieB
Enjoy your vacation and thank you for letting us see all of the great notes you've added . Can't hardly wait 'til next year to see more of the same quality. Oh yeah, I am jealous...lol................... John
For me 2009 will be the year I will likely divest myself of significant portions of my collection that I have acquired since I was about 6 years old on up to the present time. Not because I have to, but rather because I found another interest, humanitarian work, that just provides a lot more personal reward for me individually than collecting expensive objects that litter sundry safety deposit boxes all over town. I will likely auction some of the stuff via Heritage, perhaps some stuff through Stack's etc. I am in the nascent stages of working with a foundation overseas promoting child welfare and education for young adults in E. Europe with the aim of creating opportunities for homeless children to find forever families and or to be educated into meaningful lives and not be trafficked into prostitution or drug use etc. It will not be an easy task, and I am sure there are hurdles to overcome here and there. The economy going south is not helping in seeking donations for this effort, and I will likely do a lot on my own starting out.
RickieB, thank you for sharing your collection with us! Enjoy your vacation and don't forget the sun block. Lou
Thanks everyone...heading to the Virgin Islands on the 20th thru the 3rd.... Until then, I am hanging around as usual.... RickieB
