OK, I know this is already over...but I have been looking through the catalog (which has fast become one of my favorite parts of the YN contest prize...thanks to whomever gave that by the way) and I was wondering if on the Heritage website somewhere...or somewhere else there is a record of the winning bids for those coins. I'd be interested in knowing how much they went for. I have found some "dream coins" in those books and I'd be interested in knowing how much my dreams would have cost. I have no interest in knowing who bought them...just if there is a public record of the auction prices and if so where I could find it. Thanks!!!
Yes, all of the winning bids are there. Sometimes they are a little hard to find, but they are all there. However, you have to join to see the prices. Joining is free and I would strongly recommend joining if for nothing else than to see the current price of coins.
I've already joined but I must admit I have a really hard time navigating the website and finding what I want to find. Any advice in navigating would be very helpful.
Make sure you get to coins (fromthe top center). What you are looking for is "auction results archives" on the left menu.
Actually, I think you got the catolog that Rlm was scribbling figures into as the auction was goin on....look at the Lincoln lots Yeah, the HA.com site is a good one. Takes a while to learn, but a valuable tool non the less
Oh, and just in case you guys are wondering what coins I really wanted to look up; there are two that had my attention and I had no idea what they would go for. You'd probably expect Morgan's for me, but actually that would be wrong. There are amazing Morgan's in there, but I know enough about them where their prices wouldn't be too surprising. There were a couple error coins I thought were awesome and since I don't know how much error coins go for, I had no way to price them. So, here are those two coins: 2000-P Sacajawea Dollar on 1999 SBA Planchet ANACS AU58. It went for a little over $10,000 and to be honest, that was a bit more than I expected. I was thinking $5K-$7K or so. The other was the more awesome coin IMHO: 1831 Quarter Eagle on Dime Planchet NGC G6. It sold for $46K and I was expecting to see it going for more. I imagined that one might go for $100K or more...so I was a bit surprised. Anyway, I'm going to work through those catalogs and I'm sure I'll find a ton more.
