I have looked at all the pics...... If I sold that as a 40 I need a whoopin, it's VF. Let me know Tyler
Jack, that's the XF+ 1920-S you sent my way, lol. Guys, would someone like me to send the coin to them for nice pics? This coin is no way a VF! I might still be an amatuer at grading, but I was considering AU for this coin! The first set of pics shows the coins luster, and the second "sort of" show the detail". But this coin is almost comparable to my 1926-S which was a NGC AU-50. I'll pay shipping both ways if someone would like to attempt at real nice pics. Phoenix
I can go a couple of different ways on this one... It's just at the point where I quit trying to determine strike vs wear issues. If I were to technically grade this one, I think I could be convinced that it's a worn die on the obverse. And would go with an EF-45... MaYbE an AU but I'd have to have it in hand. But if this were my coin and I was only grading it for myself I'd give it a 35 and attribute all the strike issues to wear.
The coin is on it's way to someone, he's going to attempt to photograph it. It's a real nice coin (obviously, as I'm picky on what's going into my set). But I promise you guys, it is atleast an XF, lol. Phoenix
Also, to clear up any thoughts, I got the coin as a gift, so I'm not out anything. But it is atleast an XF, lol. Better pics to come in a few days. But, this is a perfect example of how pictures on a computer can't be reliable most of the time, and how difficult it is to capture certain coins sometimes, IMO. Phoenix
If you go look at Phjoenix's poll for the worst strike on Lincolns, you will find the 20-S right up there for poor strikes.
Where even though this coin has a soft strike, it is way better than most. It's soft, yet it has detail, along with full wheat lines. This coin is totally deserving of XF+ IMO. Phoenix
I don't know much about grading the different dates of Lincolns but according to the ANA 6th Edition , looks VF-25-30 to me , still a very attractive coin . rzage
Ef40 I'm glad I was a little late getting to this thread so I can see the additional photos. My opinion is now EF40. Very best regards, collect89 P.S. The photographs have improved several grades also.
Much better pics, but my grade is still the same. 40. It might have been a 45, but there are too many nicks now.
