Hey that St. George on the horse standing on two hoofs as St. George raises a sword over his head looks alot like my idea of how a "George" Washington quarter should look like. Except as I noted in another posting on presidents on coins, I felt that instead of the dragon we would have our George's steed stomping on the royal crown and of course our George would be holding a sliver stien filled with foamy ale with his other hand. I'm telling you I got to listen to Ian and put some foil on my head.
I can give the thumbs down on the Sovereign design. It is far worse than that of the British 1935 Silver Jubilee 5/- (1 Crown),which has the nickname of 'Rocking Horse Crown',because its design reminds people of a toy rocking horse. The idea of St George stepping on the Crown of England does not go down well with me.
unhappy with your heritage and history andy? no need to be ashamed, we all have our crosses to bear. the britannia follows on a superb series, as for the st. george - the less said the better.
