Here's a small guess the grade, this is the 1920-S that is presently in my set. It's not as weak in hand as it appears in the pics, but it is soft. Still, a nice coin IMHO, and it does have full wheat lines. What is your grade opinion, and thoughts on this coin? Phoenix
VF-25 , Does this coin look shiny , not cleaned or polished but maybe something put on it to prevent toning ? rzage
Man, I'm going to have to get better pics!! That shine on their is luster totally, as a point in the right direction. And keep in mind I'm only letting quality into my set. Phoenix
At least you can post your coins I have yet posted any of my coins unless I bought them on the internet and used the pics they provided , I do need to get a camera , BTW it is a nice coin , better then anything in my early wheat set . rzage:hail:
Thanks rzage! This is a tough coin to photograph, but I'm sorry for the lousy pics. Where it is weak, it's a little unfair of me to have you guys try to grade them. But it is a nice coin, where I probably will upgrade it in the future (if I can find a nicer example) it fits fine in my set. Phoenix
Based on th epics I'd have to say there is no luster on that coin at all. Yes it has some shine. But toned copper always has some shine when turned in the light just right. I'd say VF25.
Ahh, better pics are here hopefully. And the "shine" (luster ) is on the coin in about every direction you hold it, it's not in a special angle to show it off. I was trying to capture it just right, as it is a difficult coin to photograph (atleast for me, lol). Are these pics any better? These are pics basically to show the detail, and amount of wear of coin, but still do not justify it IMHO. Thanks for the reply man! Phoenix
Ill bump my grade guess up to VF35/XF40. But I agree with GDJMSP, that coin shouldnt have any luster. Its too worn for luster. Coins with alot less wear, might not have luster. It doesnt take much for the luster to dissapear.
I can see the detail much better on the second pic. I thought that the shine was luster. I would call it XF45.
Photo opinion of VF30 I'm struggling between VF25 and VF35. I'm going to coin a new grade & give the photo a VF30. That's a VF. An oily shine might be from an excessive coating of Blue Ribbon or WD40. It doesn't take away anything for me. Very best regards, collect89
Are the pics still looking VF to you guys? If so, I can try to take better pics, lol, but they'll have to be tomorrow. Phoenix
