    NOS Former Coin Hoarder

I hereby see fit to give notice that I will be leaving this forum for 2 full weeks to life. During those two weeks I will not even come on here to check for posts so that I wont be tempted to reply. I may not ever come back to even check up on posts. I'm sure to a great many of you that this pleases you and you'll be wanting to open those bottles of wine and champaign. I can tell when my welcome as a whole is up and when there are in fact CONSPIRACIES to rid me and this is shown forth with things such as subliminal-like messaging as seen on this thread at the third post on this page:
    http://www.cointalk.org/showthread.php?t=5892&page=2
The whole goal you see is to get me into a rage so I will lash out and will thus be banned! Well I am saving you all the trouble! Further more conspiracies from the higher-ups is shown as I noticed my post number actually went DOWN from 499 one minute and with the click of the refresh button the number went to 490! You may think well, maybe he is mistaken! Well I am not and I will tell you why. I noticed my original post number as it matched 100% with Pennycases and what do you know? His stayed the same!

Now as I conclude this message you all may be wondering "When does this potentially permanent departure take place?" Well it will take place once I sign off for the night on April 5th which just happens to be tonight!

You know NOS, I dont particularly like the way you post and i think you are only trying to build up the numbers of your post but thats me. Also if you think there is a conspiracy against you then stand up like a man and stick it out or as I say "suck it up". You dont have to go. You can contribute here because I have seen you do it but your decision is yours as you choose. I dont like to see anyone leave but I think you should stick it out and maybe learn about peoples idiosyncracies (sp). You will be a better person in the long run if you can get along with both the good, the bad and the indifferent.

    Definitely not.

I prefer beer, from Munich, from Augustiner. The best in the world.

    I agree.

In my opinion, sometimes you type faster than you think, and you unnecessrily antagonize some people, even if not intentionally. But, you have as much right ot be here as anyone.

I do not usually buy into conspiracy therories, except for the one about how the Vatican keeps refusing to send me Vatican City eiuro coins when I order them, but aside form that, I think you are just being paranoid.

I am wondering, for example, if your post total went down beause you or someone else deleted some posts or threads you made/were involved in?

Anyway, I suspect you'll be back sooner or later. So, I do not consider this "goodbye".

It was the cigarette smoking man, he started the conspiracy, mulder and scully have been trying to stop him for years.
No seriously NOS ya need to get over it, adn quit worring about your post count, I was unaware of any competition involving post per day averages.

Seems like every board, on every subject under the sun has "post counters". This is a big deal to some egos, so much so that they have to post an announcement as to the fact that they have reached the _____ # of posts mark. I have noticed that the quality of posts from these "post counters" is usually very shallow. All I can say about someone who whines about a few posts not showing up in the count is----------DON'T LET THE DOOR HIT YOU ON YOUR WAY OUT!

I have been lurking here for awhile. It has been interesting determining "who is" and "who is not" on this board. You know the people...the "children" posts versus the "adult" discussion.

It seems that you only are concerned about the quantity of your posts instead of the quality your of posts. With that said, take the 2 weeks to self-examine your maturity, see if your past < 500 posts are contributing to the forum (or your post counter), and do a little growing up.

It's okay, we all had to do it.

You're in the right part of the world, but you need to continue traveling just a bit further east, to Pilsen, in the Czech Republic. Budwar, as they call it. It's available as Czechvar here in the United States. Yummy!

Oh, yeah, been there. Augustiner is a bit better, but not by much. Nothing like sitting in the main square of Pilzn drinking a half liter and paying the equivalent of 40 or 50 cents or so.

Budweiser in the US blocked Budweiser Budvar from using that name in the US, and here in Europe (part of it, anyway) Buweiser can't use that name. They call it "Anheuser-Busch". Who would want to drink it here, who knows.

And, to add something coin related, Czech is one of the few Eastie countries to have active coin usage. Granted, the "cents" coins don't really circulate, but the crown coins are actively used. Some other places I have been are down to mainly banknotes.

When I was 18, I was sure that I knew everything there was to know. I couldn't understand why the old farts didn't always see things my way. They were so wrong and I was so right!

I'm much older now and I find that I am still learning new things every day. A lot of my opinions have evolved over time and I'm sure that yours will, too. One of the most important things I learned was tolerance of other folks. Even though people did things I thought was totally wrong, I realized it wasn't my job to chastise them about it. It puts them on the defensive and effective debate flew out the window. After that, it just boiled down to bickering and conspiracies. Once I learned that, the conspiracies all but disappeared.

I'm certain that you will also discover these things as time goes by. Just be patient.

Good luck and keep on collecting!

NOS might be more the chastisee than the chastiser on this forum. Let’s not drive off enthusiastic young talent just because they’re young. The hobby needs them.

Hey JBK I would like for you to circulate a few of those NICE crowns here in Indiana!!! Get with me and we can work up something before the black helicopters even know what we are up to!

As far as this thread is concerned I would have to say this to all involved, "We shall only receive that which we are willing to give"! And, as far as our differences, I am thankful that we are all different. Be pretty boring if we were all alike!

And yes my friends, "THEY really are out there!"

I agree that the hobby needs young people. However, the right or wrong part is in the mind of the individual. Each to his/her own.

Debate is cool but chastising is counter productive. Usually, once it starts, it tends to snowball into something out of control until someone gets hurt. That's where the tolerance part comes in. It is usually just a subtle turn of phrase that can turn a discussion about a difference of opinion into an attack on someone. That puts the other person on the defensive and the next thing you know, other folks chime in, there is bickering back and forth, and the original debate is lost.

NOS, and others, you all really seem to have a deep appreciation for numismatics and that is really neat. Your youthful (yes, I said youthful) exuberance, though, can sometimes bite you in the behind. If you feel passionate about something and it is contrary to the general opinion, go ahead and express, but do what I do, write it up and look at it to make sure that you are effectively expressing your opinion and try to avoid attacking someone else for their opinion. If someone responds to your opinion in a way that appears to be an attack, just be tolerant because even old farts can exhibit exuberance when they are passionate about something. Let the snowball roll on by and focus on the debate at hand, not the personalities of the debators.

This board as I understand it is for learning about coins coin collecting and meeting other people with common intrests. When we start worrying about how many posts we have made we kind of cheapen the learning experience. As far as conspiracy theory ,that is not at all true, people will always disagree on certian points this is not a conspiracy it is differance of opinion and thats all it is.NOS I hope you can see this because everyone can learn so much from each other and thats what it is all about.

I once left this forum because of nearly the same exact pretense you are NOS, I had been gone for... months.. about 3 I guess. I soon began to realise though that no one was against me when I thought they were, I thought there was a conspiracy against me etc... I found that all of this was in my head once I actually began to think about it, and lurk around here for a while... It all boils down to this, certain posts can be mistaken the wrong way, rather you believe they are against you, or speaking directly towards you and not the general % of collectors. And i've been on the giving end of what I'm talking about, one of my last posts upon leavin was making the statement of I believe calling someone "pops" or to the liking..... Needless to say it was taken the wrong way, the guys actual nickname was "pops" , I didn't take the time and effort to explain myself, instead I took it the wrong way to, as if they were ganging up on me, which they were not, they were taking my statement the wrong way ( thinking I was calling someone old, etc. ) And that's when I left.... Now I'm missing 3 or more months of conversation from this forum, that has plenty of knowlege to give, plenty of it. Now, i've finally learned that a lot of things on forums are taken the wrong way, rather it be here, or across the street, it happens and all you can do is take the neccesary time to explain yourself towards these matters.
Although.. When you post something like the past few topics, such as A-OK with ironing notes, it opens yourself to a lot of dissagreement.... That's about all I've got to say, it's up to you to decide if you can learn from this experience.
