I have acquired quite a few FTR Hut coins in the last few years. I have just added a barbarous imitation hut copying a Constans from Lugdunum. Constans - imitation copying RIC VIII Lugdunum 084 Obv:- D N CONSTA-NS P F AVG, Pearl-diademed, draped, cuirassed bust left, globe in right hand Rev:- FEL TEMP REPAR-ATIO, Helmeted soldier, spear in left hand, advancing right, head left; with his right hand he leads a small bare-headed figure from a hut beneath a tree. The spear points up and to the right Cpoies a coin minted in Lugdunum, (// SLG), A.D. 348-350 Reference:– Copies RIC VIII Lugdunum 84 (S) 2.42 gms. 180 degrees. 19.34 mm Here is the coin type that it was copying. 4.04 gms. 0 degrees. 20.89 mm The copy is a good attempt but the style is not quite good enough in either the devices or legends.
That's a pretty good copy. I need to get me one of these FEL TEMP huts. I have plenty of horsemen but no huts.
That's an interesting copy and great coin in general. My only hut. Constans (337 - 350 A.D. Æ Centenionalis O: D N CONSTANS P F AVG, laureate draped bust left holding globe. R: FEL TEMP REPARATIO, soldier walking right, spear downwards, leading captive from hut under a tree. Mintmark R star Q. Rome Mint, officina 4; 348-350 AD 4.08g 23mm RIC VIII Rome 140; LRBC 601
All of my coins have been found in lots of uncleaned coins. This is the only HUT I have found. The reverse is not too bad but I couldn't do anything with the obverse. Afraid too even touch it. Constantius II, Thessalonica, 117 RIC VIII, TESE epsilon.
Very cool imitations, @maridvnvm . At first I did not see it, then the odd shaped head, letters, and just overall look that I began to see it was "different to these untrained eyes. This is my only Hut, I got it because of your postings soe time ago... Constans, AD 337-350 Æ Follis, 22mm, 3.9g, 6h; Heraclea, AD 348-351.
