This seller just seems to be bad to me I bid on a coin on e-bay. After looking at the bid history the second highest bidder with 138 feedbacks has a 100% bid history with this seller. Am I wrong in assuming that something kind of fishy went on here? I went and looked at some of His negative feedback and He always had a response negative back to the buyer. Also looked at some of His sold items and one was of a Purell hand sanitizer wipes 270 count that normally sells for $14.99 He sold it for $45 buy it now with a $14 shipping fee . I understand making a profit on e-bay, but that was just playing off of peoples fears and taking advantage of them. Anyway the 100% bid history with this seller ?
Sellers set up bogus buyers to get positive feedback points and they get better selling conditions and rating. I've seen coin sellers sell the same coins many times to a person who seems to be legit and gives positive feedback.
They are shill bidding on their own listings to drive up price of their items. Post their name so we can avoid...
I sent the seller a message asking for Him to please explain the 100% bidder. I will wait to see if He responds and post the response and the seller name. I pretty much figured it was shill bidding, I just can not imagine it being anything else.
Sounds like a shill bidder and someone who likes to benefit from other peoples' suffering. 2 strikes against them. I wouldn't buy anything from them.
I once bought a very scuzzy gold coin (I gambled on the poor images) from a seller who, I later learned had 4 eBay accounts between he and his wife. He permitted me to return the coin, claimed it never arrived, and then sold it to another buyer using one of the other accounts. I researched market data, caught him red-handed and, after a couple of visits from his local police, he finally repaid me.
Here is a snip Image from the Bidder history. Looks like it is a 30 day summary only and is 100% with this seller.
The bidder only bid on the one coin. That made him 100%. Tough to say much about the wipes he sold. Pricing on this type of stuff is crazy. No way to know what he paid for it. Lots of air freight is being paid to get the product. Prices have tripled because it's so hard to find and cost have tripled. The good news is, prices are starting to drop as the supply increases.
I agree. Shill bidding is something that is not legal, but hard to prove. I like to bid live, but make pre-bids for what I am willing to pay when I can not be there or want more sleep than a 4AM start time allows. I have been following two auctions this week. Today I won an item (scale weight) I have wanted for several months. I bid 1.5 times estimate and 3 times start. It was unsold at the same price a year ago. I was not surprised when it hammered at my max bid.
Good one! How terrible the lengths some will go for some money. Too bad he did not still get charged for fraud. It is still attempted robbery using ebay.
I forgot to mention that he claimed I sent him an empty return package. That really got me after him. He's as crooked as the sun is shining . . .
Ebay is a minefield with all the shady and crooked sellers. However, I buy almost all my coins there, but you better know what the red flags are.
