So, recently I became the proud owner of a 1911-A 25 Pfennig Proof (KM-18). But, I can't seem to find any record of how many were minted. Does anyone know of a reference that might provide a mintage? Thanks.
Sorry no proof numbers. https://www.ngccoin.com/price-guide...nig-km-18-1909-1912-cuid-1129670-duid-1312757
Every site I have looked doesn’t include mintage numbers. I’m hoping someone knows an obscure resource that might have it.
According to this, I believe, there weren't any proofs struck in 1911 - https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces4715.html
Hm then again, Numista doesn't include any 1909 proof strikes and right below offered an ad for one on eBay, so not sure if this is best source.
If you don't get an answer by Tuesday, I'll pull out my German book on modern German coins and see if they mention proof coin mintages.
Kurt Jaeger in his books states that the Imperial German mintages include the proof issues but did not consider them separately. I expect proofs exist of all German types except possibly the war time zinc issues. It is also interesting to note that when the frugal Germans finished striking the proof coins they continued using the proof dies until the job was finished or the dies wore out. As a result you can find some interesting coins with a proof or proof like reverse and a normal obverse.
