Hi all. Putting some coins into new floppies this caught my eye. I thought at first it was a minor die crack till i put it under the scope. It looks like struck through a wire. It starts on the wing below the M, travels down and turns at right angles towards the I. The foto of the close up is of the coin OUT of the floppy What do you think?
Is it raised? have you used a wooden tooth pick to see if you can move it. It appears to be laying on top of the surface in your photographs.
Well, after 2 hours of very gentle probing with a rose thorn, nothing moves. When you, very, very gently run your finger over it , it feels slightly rounded and raised along it's length. So i assume it is a die crack.
What would a lamination error look like on a quarter? It kinda looks like the lamination cracked on it
