Hello all. I generally stick to coins I find with my metal detector but I am working a possible trade deal for this set of peace dollars. Wanted to some advice from much more knowledgeable members here. What would you estimate the value of this set to be? Any thing that stands out condition wise for any of these coins? I know the photos are not the greatest and will not allow for a real accurate grade estimate but any help or input would be greatly appreciated.

Any way to get better pictures of both sides of the 1928P?

Unless you've unearthed the long-lost 1964-D Peace Dollar, I am going to have to classify that particular specimen as suspect :)

And as for value, I think similar sets normally go for $750-900, depending on condition. Unless, of course, your 1964-D is the real deal, in which case you're potentially a millionaire!

These photos are from the current owner but I will see if I can get more. I have not seen coins in person yet.

Yeah I was looking into that myself because I was not aware of any peace dollars after 1935. What I read was confusing and I could not tell if they were every actually sold or circulated at all?? I am assuming this one is a fake or something.

The seller was claiming the set was worth over 2k with the condition of coins but my research was leading me to believe more like $1200-$1500 but sounds like I am a bit off as well. Wouldn't that be awesome if that 64 was real?!?! Lol. I will keep you all posted for sure.

I agree with this. Most of the coins seem to have problems or a lot of wear. Only a few of them are worth more than $20-$25 dollars.

Like Quint I'd be maxed at $900 unless you really wanted a set Peace. Quite a few could be upgraded.

This is a nice lower grade set. The value naturally depends on the overall condition of the coins. Most are poorly toned. The key dates that will add value are the 1921, 1928 and the 1934-S.

On the plus side, your 1921 does seem to be in semi-decent shape?

I should have the coins in hand next week as they are being shipped but here is a better pic of the 1921.

I will post some good pics of both sides of coins once I have them in hand.

Finally have the coins in hand. Here are some pics. If anyone has input on the value of set with better pics please let me know. Trying to decide what to do with these coins. Sell, grade any, hold?? Let me know if there are other coin pics that will help.

If that set were mine I'd hold.

I dunno that 1964 has me suspect of everything in the album. I'd need to verify everything else as legit, or just offer melt, which of course he won't take. LOL

Where did the 1964 come from?

For a coin that never circulated it shows lots of wear. The '64 that is.

Lol yeah the 64 is sketchy but he did not think it was real or try to pass it off as such. I purchased coins so they are mine now good or bad. Just trying to decide if I should flip them or hang on to them?
    Lol
No idea. Seller didn't know anything about the 64 history.
Yeah that is the weird thing. If it's fake which I'm sure it is. How did it get so worn? Was it actually in circulation for a while? Not sure the best way to confirm it's fake? The weight was very close to other circulated dollars.

Don't be deceived by the lack of hair lines on Liberty's ear on that 1921 piece. Many of the 1921 coins, being of very high relief, did not strike up that well on that area of the coin. You have a nice coin there.

That is good information thank you. What do you think the 1921 would grade? Is it worth grading or not in your opinion?
