Well a month ago or so, I may have mentioned that I thought the Adams first spouse coins, both proof and unc, were going to be key to the series, but as of lately they have seen a surge and passed the Jackson FS in mintage for both proof and unc. Now the Jackson looks like they are the keys so far. These mintage figures are from the Nov 4th Numismatic news which uses mintages taken on October 20th.

    Adams Proof - 4,753
    Adams UNC - 2,711

    Jackson Proof - 4,503
    Jackson UNC - 2,584

I suspect the keys are yet to come Joe.

I agree. I predict the mintage of the Millard Fillmore First Spouse coins will not exceed that of Martha Washington or Dolley Madison.

If the price of gold stays down and the mint releases the later issues at a much lower price I see one of two things happening.....

Either people will start buying them up because they are once again affordable or....

People won't touch them because they lost their popularity during the past year when prices were so high. Therefore, nobody will buy them for the simple reason that they won't have a complete set.

I don't know. With coins such as these that cost $$$, there will be a few people who might buy "just one" so they can own an example - especially if the prices come down in line with gold prices.

I suppose that it depends on how they handle the cut off.

Bah... you have to make my life difficult! I was planning to wait a little before buying my next one but I came across a good deal on a Jackson and I might have to pull the trigger!
