I recognize that NGC and PCGS are 2 of the big most respectable grading services.
I won 2 auctions on 2 coins graded by NPG.
I read a thread here that was about a year old and found that this service was brought up and not highly recommended.

So, the 2 coins I won cost me less than $100.
And according to numismedia.com they are worth more than $2000 together.

My question is, can the grading service be relied upon?
Are these coins really as good as the grading service says they are?

BTW I have not gotten the coins yet.

Even if they are MS-60 it is still worth 80 bucks. And MS-63 would be worth 105.

You wont really be able to tell until they come in. Good luck. :)

    NPG is a NO-NO.

So it sounds like this is a "too-good-to-be-true" thing.
Thats what I thought, but if the coins are MS at all, they should be worth what I paid.
    So its all good.

Why do NPG and I assume others even stay around, if they are known for not being reliable?
    Another noob mistake .

If I am reading your question correctly, you are asking why would anyone send any coins to NPG to be graded. My guess is that no one did. A lot of these alphabet soup TPG's grade their own coins. They form their own "companies" just to overgrade their own coins and bilk the population. From the number of unscrupulous TPGs out their, it appears that business model is working.

Post a photo of the coins if you can. It seems unlikely they are MS66 but folks here can give you a good estimate of the grade.

Sorry to say the pictures make me think this coin is polished. Of course it could just be the pictures - can you try some with better lighting. I can't see if there is any luster remaining.
