This is not possible! For one reason, the Memorial Building and Lettering are reversed and even if it could happen, they would be in the correct orientation instead of being reversed. The chances of almost the entire surface of the Reverse of a Memorial Cent separating from a coin is about 1 in 100 Million and the chance for it to happen when a Dime happened to fall into the Striking Chamber (to get pressed onto the Dime) is probably 1 in 100 Billion or more. Also, there is no evidence of the Obverse image and lettering of a Cent struck onto the Reverse of the Dime which would occur if the Dime fell into the Strikng chanmber when Cents are being minted.

Let's suppose that could happen. The metal would not be clear, would it?

You can see through the raised section at the rim , there is no known metal that one can see through , try soaking it in some acetone overnight , the image will disolve .

Even if you did have almost the entire surface of a memorial cent peel off (major lamination) and fall onto a struck dime that happened to be in the coining chamber, the result would be the reversed and incused image you see, but it would be sunk INTO to surface of the dime, not raised above it.

No one thinks you are lying about what you are describing, we just believe that you are probably inexperienced with errors and may not understand what you are seeing.

And we can't give a name or explain how how it could happen, or give a value because it CAN'T happen. If it can't happen we can't say how it could happen. If it can't happen it doesn't have a name. And if it can't happen we can't give a theoretical value for an error that doesn't exist.

Looks like another 11 cent error to me. :kewl:

Take a dime & a penny (11 cents) lay the penny on top of the dime and strike the penny hard with a hammer. :hammer: That's why the memorial is reversed. ;)

you are close toadie but that doesn't account for the extra material which makes this a glue job instead.

I just looked closer at the angle shot and you're right. It has to have some sort of foreign material on it because if it was real, it would NOT have rims, they would have been flattened out by the restrike and they are practically perfect.

So it's worth 10 cents! :thumb:
