1803 Large Cent

    Its not pretty but it is 217 years old! Only 3,131,691 issued but how many have survived? This variety is a small date with the large fraction. The reverse is very nice but the obverse has seen better days.

    I'm not sure but I don't think so. The back is just too nice. Both sides show wear but not that much in reality. I've seen much worse on numerous large Cents, most with newer dates.

    I get the feeling by looking st this coin that the obverse had lamination issues but it's too worn to tell for sure.

    S-260, about the most common of the 1803's.
