Hi there I'm fairly new to the coin hobby. I was just hoping that one of the experts here could please help me out. How much underweight for a Washington quarter? Is there still considered normal wear? I came across is 1999 Connecticut that doesn't seem to have a lot of wear. It weighs 5.58 grams would that still be within the tolerance?

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

If you don't have a Red Book guide, you absolutely need one.

If you still don't want to buy one, at least Wikipedia has the weights and dimensions: a clad quarter should weigh 5.67g. Tolerance is usually a couple percent, but even with that amount of wear there could be some minor metal loss (a percent or so). Combined with the probable tolerance of your scale.... there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with your quarter: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Washington_quarter

The quarter tolerance is very high. +/- .227 grams.
    5.443 (5.67) 5.897

The tolerance on the Morgan dollar is only .097 g.
