To give a kid a coin is a wonderful thing. We need to get our youth involved in collecting. There are so many bad things in this world we live in that kids get involved in.Coin collecting is a good way to truly teach them the value of money and the value of saving. It also teachs them about history in a way they can relate to.So give a kid a coin today and teach them about it's history.

Funny, I was thinking about a similar thing today. A couple of years ago I taught a coin collecting merit badge class to a number of scouts. I gave each of them a set of current Canadian coins consisting of each denomination up to a quarter. I was wondering if any of them even kept them or has done anything with them. I hope so.

A couple of years ago I handed out around 20 ~ 30 Wheat cents (all from the 30's) to kids at Halloween.
And just so no kid felt ripped off they also got a piece of candy :D

I've given away more foreign coins then I can remember all in the hope that it'll inspire someone to become a collector.

Most of these coins cost only a few cents each but they potential these "investments" can bring to the hobby is priceless.

Yeah whats the big deal with links to other forums. Are the mods and the owner here scared of competition?

No, I just find it personally unfit to do so, the moderators have no kindleing on my judgement on not posting a link to another forum

BTW, it is not competition, the owner of another forum i'm apart of, frequents this forum as well on a regular basis, both places are great for knowlege and are equally endowed with kindness. It's not competition, we have the same rules over there, nothing that happens here, gets brought up over there ( anymore ) Vice versa.
