Please guess the grade of the 1944-D Jefferson Nickel shown below. I have attached a poll for you to cast your vote and you may select up to 4 different things: the numerical grade, Full Steps, + grade, and * designation. The streak across the steps above the "T" in MONTICELLO is on the slab. As always, comments welcome!
It looks like it has some real nice luster I am at MS66 as for the steps I can't quite tell if that mark is bridging the steps under the third pillar or not. I am gonna guess that it got the FS designation.
MS 66 close to 5fs, but I think it just misses it. The luster look strong...nothing about the color suggests a star to me ...nice coin overall
As you know, Paul, I love your coins. I sure own plenty of them already. This one looks very close to 67, if not already there. I would go star for color. Since you use NGC, no full steps, as they are tough on that designation.
I do use NGC, but I also buy coins that are already graded which includes PCGS. And yes, NGC is tougher on full steps.
Looks like I was in the middle of the pack with 66, no full steps and I risked a star for PL obverse, which was probably a bad bet.
