Hello, I have a numismatic proposal that shall be helpful to all. My plan is simple, if you find a counterfeit coin on ebay or any other auction site, post a link and ideally a picture here for all to see. Therefore counterfeit coins will have a much more difficult time being sold to the unsuspecting buyer. This will make numismatics better for all, so please bookmark this page or add it to your favorites list or whatever it is on your internet browser. Enjoy this new resource.
Your plan assumes every "unsuspecting buyer" will check this message board before buying a coin on eBay. That seems a bit unrealistic to me. Who will be the final arbiter in decreeing a coin counterfeit? Are we to assume that if someone posts a coin as counterfeit that it is indeed counterfeit? If I was selling a genuine coin on eBay and someone posted the auction here saying the coin is counterfeit I would be more than a bit miffed.
no. they will not all check the fourums before buying a coin. But it will help to a certain extent. Also often coins are obvious counterfeits.
A miffed Hobo? That wouldn't be a purdy sight! Ribbit Ps: You should join the CFE Group on Ebay, Isaiah.
The fact that the seller states that the item is German Silver tells me that this is a fake or a reproduction....German silver is nickel. For the unenlightened please stay away from this auction.
