If you zoom in you can see the 2nd jacket. Maybe that has something to do with the missing 1 ? Is a filled die considered a error? J uh St wondering. RJ
That is not a second jacket. Probably a scratch. Filled die is just a worn die issue. Very minor error.
Looks like a scratch. Definitely not a second jacket. A filled Die is very common. If the 1 is totally missing that just makes it neat and a keeper but it's still only worth a dime at best.
First, welcome to the neighborhood, RJ! Get out of the habit of using extreme magnification to search for errors. If you can't see something with 10x or less, you're just wasting your time. ~ Chris
BTW, if you look close, but without extreme magnification, you can see what I believe to be, the very top of the missing numeral 1. Click on the posted photo and that will be close enough. I would keep this coin if it were mine, because I don't already have a "grease filled die" coin. You should probably keep it until you get a better or more obvious one. I consider @paddyman98 the "Earl of Errors" and I bet he's got at least one grease filled die in his collection.
Thanks all. I was pretty sure it was the result of a grease filled die. Found it interesting and wondered how common it was. I am keeping them all as this is a new hobby and not a money making venture. Good thing for me lest i starve!!
