Dunno myself...those pics are soooo blurry! But like Toad I want one so bad I can almost feel the money flying outta my pocket. What I wouldn't give to have a worn one in my collection
Horrible pics, but the first thing that struck me about the coin is the reverse rings. They should not be incuse struck.
the seller who I bought this from had 2 coins up for sale. both quite rare, a 1787 fugio cent and a 1694 new england elephant token. He said he wasn't sure if either was real. the elephant token had a seam on it, therefore being counterfeit, this did not. he said he found them both in an abandoned farm house in 1979 while in the marines. the elephant token sold for $89 and mine sold for $28. Just some background information.
Yes. I think Isaiah's coin is a fake as most evident by the rings being depressed - ditto for the inner ring where united states is noted. Here is how the reverse should look with the rings striking up from the coin:
What bothers me the most is the lack of an "outer ring" at the edge of the coin. It's too smooth looking and it looks like it doesn't have a rim? :kewl: Ribbit
actually mine does have a rim. Also did you get a chance to weigh your fugio cents? I would like to know if mine is genuine.
The rim I'm talking about isn't the rim at the edge but the one on the outside of the rings. It's sorta like one large ring around all the rings. As to weight, Breen says they were suppose to be 10.21 grams but most are underweight. Mine are (grams): 6-W - 8.2 12-M - 9.8 12-S - 8.3 12-U - 9.7 15-Y - 8.2 (holed) 19-SS - 9.5 Ribbit
