I have found a few 1972 Lincoln Penny's with a double ear...and doubling on Lincoln head...date..and some on the motto...could anyone possibly tell wat class or type of DDO this coin is?
You need to do some research on them as there are numerous possibilities. The 1972 Lincoln Cent has a lot of varieties.
I have been doin research...i do understand there are 9 varieties of the 1972 Lincoln Cent...but im not able to determine the variety myself..so comin here for more info would be greatful
The 1972 DDO varieties, except for #1 and a couple of the others have differences that require either higher resolution photography for a forum so we can use the forum's capabilities to enlarge, or photograph the coin through a magnifier that shows it. Some are hard to tell from machine doubling without such. We know the people do the best they can, and so do we, but sometimes it turns to guessing, and of course we really don't want to do that. Jim
As mentioned in the responses, there are many versions of this coin in the doubled die varieties. Variations on coin surfaces seem to attract DDO, DDR, etc. responses and while some have merit, most do not as evidenced by past comments of forum members. I am interested in the "doubled ear" you indicated. I would like a close-up of the ear if possible.
