Hi! This is my first post so hopefully I’m going about this correctly.

I recently purchased a 2017 American Palladium Eagle from Apmex via EBay. I figure despite the relatively high price tag this is probably the one series I can hope to play catch up on and then buy as new items are released and be able to say I have the full series. Well, until that money needs to go to fix a roof leak or to college tuition but we can all dream, right?

I’m proud to take taken the first step in this collection but also somewhat nervous about this being a truly perfect MS-70 coin (especially given the price!)

I cleaned the slab with a microfiber cloth and went over it with a loupe. I didn’t see anything the sent up red flags but I’m no expert. Unfortunately the local coin stores are closed due to COVID so I can’t get a second opinion very easily.

Any thoughts? Here is the coin in question! I can post more photos if that is helpful!

I am not going to make myself very popular with this post :) but I don't like to mix bullion and numismatics. I also don't think just because of an MS70/PR70 label, the modern coin inside the slab should be worth a big premium. I noticed the label says "Early release" which is one more good reason to ignore this kind of coins.

Well, since I'm already known for not being too popular with some folks here, I guess it won't matter if I agree with you.

    To the OP:
    1) No matter what, it's still just bullion. So, forget about numismatic value.
    2) If you can't tell the difference between a 70 and a 69, buy the 69. You'll save yourself a ton of money.
    3) Terms like Early Release, First Strike, First Day of Issue, etc. are nothing more than garbage attributes intended to squeeze more money out of a sucker.

cpm9ball@ Don't sell yourself short I always read your post and value the honest opinions. First, early, day of Issue blah- blah.

I like your coin, it looks pretty clean to me. Good luck on collecting what you like.

I don’t own one, but I think that’s one of the sharpest looking US Mint entries of recent memory. Enjoy your ownership!

Personally, although this is a bullion coin, I think the 15,000 mintage does give it some numismatic appeal.

I like the design on both sides.
I think I like the eagle better than the eagle on the ASE and AGE.
