If you sell on ebay then you already know that great pics sell, bigtime!! :singing: With premiums being so high on gold coins, I've checked out commemorative coins and everything in between just to see if I could get a deal somewhere, it didn't happen!! :D This coin is tiny, at 1.6 grams it's a baby so you really gotta want one in your collection to get one and right now with the price of gold so high, it may not be a great time to buy one. I bought mine a few years ago when gold was at a much lower price tag, terrible pics but you get the idea. Turned out to grade at AU50 so I was happy! :cigar: That said, check this one out by Great Southern Coins, juiced or not??!! :D

Ah, I see the only thing that's changed about GSC is the background color of their photos. Still overexposed with enhanced sharpness--it's what they're best at.

However, I did just take a gander at their feedback, and it didn't have nearly as many monthly negatives as I seem to remember there being back in the day.

Either they've gotten better at representing their coins or their clientele has gotten even stupider.

Funny! :D What surprises me is the bidiots on this one! Looks like it's gonna sell at top dollar! :cigar:

I'm not a collector of vintage gold coins, but I am one of the bidiots who was lucky to win a GSC dollar. My wife calls me stupid every day, so I guess this just proves she's right. :arghh:

Or, they use their liberal "unconditional return policy" to cover their sins.

Their close-up picture makes the coin look too bright and shiny for that issue. The Pan-PAC Dollar has frosted surfaces. It only looks like their close-up photo when the coin has been played with.

    This one is graded MS-64.

Maybe they have chased away one generation of customers who wised up, and they are working with the next generation who have not figured out that they are getting their butts kicked.

    Don’t you mean misrepresenting?

Until I read johnmilton’s comment I was going to say that looks like a much better photo than you generally see from that source. They forgot to blow out the highlights.

All but one of the raw 3CN coins I bought from them years ago got a straight grade. I chuckle at their Gem BU+++ grades. The only one that did straight grade was one of their gem BU++++ coins which was no gem (MS62) in the eyes of NGC. I stopped buying from them. The auction prices they continually got for raw coins was ridiculous.

Have you ever tried to sell any of those coins, have them graded by TPG or asked an expert collector about them? It's conceivable that you did okay, but what I’ve seen, the odds are against you much of the time.

My choice of words was wrong in my post. Only one of the 3CNs out of 5 straight graded. I've learned a lot more about the series since so hopefully I'm better at distinguishing between a cleaned and not cleaned 3CN. Pictures can be deceiving; especially theirs.

yes, they can be..lately i am plagued with many very nie coins in the picture, only to find out vendor is posting a stock image, i really hate those guys that do that, i sell on ebay myself, and when i post a picture it it is of the exact item, unless something generic like a new item i have multiples of, coins, should not be done like that, as each one is different..so i try to avoid those vendors..

Two years ago, I got 4 coins out of GC. Two of them turned out to be mis- represented in that both had been maliciously cleaned and the photographs and text did not reveal the fact. I won't say if that was by accident or design since I don't know.

But I stopped doing business with that company. Twice bitten and all that. Their guarantee is useless to me since it doesn't compensate for my time, trouble and aggravation.

I was putting together a high grade raw Buffalo nickel set and totally ruled out GSC because of prior dealings. Their pictures look better than coins in hand; in my opinion. The bid prices for many of their Buffalos are outrageously high; coins they identify as MS obviously aren't but bring in MS auction bids. You'd think that over time the novelty would wear out. I guess as long as they continue to get buyers for their stuff they'll continue on.
