Such coins are sure pretty in hand. It's a lifetime Faustina I issue, too!

Faustina Sr VENERI AVGVSTAE S C lifetime dupondius.jpg Faustina Senior, AD 138-140.
    Roman Æ as or dupondius, 12.03 g, 28.1 mm, 6 h.
    Rome, AD 139-140.
Obv: FAVSTINA AVG ANTONINI AVG PII, bare-headed and draped bust, right.
Rev: VENERI AVGVSTAE S C, Venus, standing right, drawing drapery from right shoulder with right hand and holding apple in left hand.
    Refs: RIC 1097; BMCRE 1132; Cohen 283; Strack 1224; RCV 4685; Hill UCR 155.

It's an obverse die match to the BMC example, too:

Post coins you think have a lovely patina!

Cool patina, @Roman Collector ... great finish!

I know that I have posted this a few times.

But, I have always like my "Joseph, and the Amazing Technicolor DreamCoat" patina-coin...

My favorite is either an even brown
Marcus Agrippa as Neptune by caligula.jpg

    Or else a medium/dark green
    Divus Augustus dupondius by Tiberius.jpg

In hand, I do appreciate a glossy black patina, although it can be hard to see in my binder, and they are notoriously difficult to photograph properly

Licinius II Caesar campgate heraclea HMTDelta.jpg

This one is a rare find - a matte black, rather than the more common polished coal look

Nice coin @Roman Collector, and neat it's a die match with the BMC example too. Extra bonus :)

I'll toss in this one of Nerva. In hand it is such an amazing coin. Compared with other green patinated coins I have, it redefines glossy green. The only thing is I just cannot get it properly photographed. On the pictures it looks beaten up, but in hand it is nicely evenly patinated and the green color looks emerald. Ok, I'll stop now... :) 17.2.png

The images were so dark I couldn't make out what coin you posted. So I took the liberty of lightening. I hope you don't mind.

Thanks @Bing. I took those shots in sunlight - hard to make anything out. Since then I've learned to use overhead lighting (a spotlight in fact) to capture better images of dark coins. A little bit of improvement in my technique here and there with more practice!
