https://imgur.com/gallery/tm4p5p0 some photos on imgur. Picked up some random year PR69 from apmex. I got 3x PR69DCAM. but they have some spots on them. Should i return these? one is a 2008 W, and the other a 2012 W. Both graded PR69DCAM. but the front of the 2008 W has two spots (don't look reddish), and the 2012 W has reddish spots (copper i believe)on the back. the other 2011 W came in okay without spots from what i can tell. I called, and they said i can try to exchange, but no guarantee I can exchange, it will depend on inventory on hand at the time. if they don't have anything they said they'll refund, which is not what i want. Thought i did okay on these, paid 1850 a coin, but not sure, pretty new to the coin world. Thanks for the help!
A definite return. I would call their customer service and say you’re dissatisfied, and why. I’ll bet they make you whole.
Welcome to CT. $1850/coin isn't a bad price, so you did fine on that front. Relatively close to spot price last I remember. But at the end of the day, those coins are damaged goods, and those spots may get worse over time. I've never bought directly from APMEX, but I also cannot recall anybody else's horror stories either--I'm sure they'll be happy to accommodate you, especially if you're spending that kind of cash. In addition, just because you stated you were new to this, don't get starry eyed over MS/PR70 graded bullion, or any of the fanciful labels that come along with it (e.g. First Strike, Early Releases, etc). At the end of the day, it's just that--bullion, and the premiums that come along with coins like that are just not worth it. (You totally didn't do that here, but I just wanted to pass along the advice, as someone who made that mistake too much when I first started collecting).
That's a shame! I have bought from Apmex once or twice but I was always really happy with my purchase! Yeah, for the price you paid you shouldn't have to keep those especially if the ad didn't state anything specific to their condition. Below is the return policy link! good luck! https://www.apmex.com/faq/miscellaneous-gold-silver-questions#what-is-your-return-policy
Paying up for Proof is one thing, and getting a 69 or 70 (which 99.99% of all proofs probably are) isn't a bad thing. The rest of the label clutter is definitely worthless and not worth paying more than $5 for.
Thanks for posting the photos Kentucky. I hear you guys. I just wondered if the DCAM made it worth keeping or not, clearly i've got a lot of room to grow in this area. lol I just bought the red book and it's being shipped to my house along with a 10x magnifier.
