Your title indicates that it is an 1896-O, but your photos are of a 1921. If your title is wrong, you can use the "Thread Tools" at the top-right to correct the date. ~ Chris
Why B/W? 44.6M minted. Avg value $25-$30.00. To me, your coin appears to have been cleaned. My position, not worth having it graded, but you should wait for others to post. Saw the date on the coin and figured you made a mistake. My opinion remains.
I was just curious about what you guys had to think of the coin and what it's possibly worth without being graded
So here's what you got: - An 1896-O Morgan Dollar is a better date, as @longshot mentioned - However, your coin has been pretty harshly cleaned, as @Robert Ransom mentioned - So now onto the grade, I'd put it somewhere in the Fine category; it's been a while since I've split the hairs of lower graded Morgans so I'm a little rusty, but if you are interested how I came to that conclusion look at the thread in my signature or look here: https://www.pcgs.com/photograde#/Morgan/Grades - And here is why the grade of your particular coin doesn't matter all that much: from G04-EX40, your coin is worth somewhere around $40, perhaps less since it has been cleaned; my general rule of thumb is that something isn't worth getting graded unless it's about $250 in value (and even then I hesitate), especially if you are sending coins in to get graded on your own, which can get costly
The guys are right. Not to knock your coin, but it grades no better than F12, and appears to have been cleaned. Not a candidate for certification, you will lose money on the deal. I'd value it around $30.
It's a typical Morgan. It would grade medium-low and I could get one on eBay for about 20 - 25 dollars.
