Us Type Coins..Possible 1916 D Merc

    Hi cointalk! I went to the local coin dealer today and got some cool type coins for 20 bucks, some of them are culls.... but I could not pass them up for a dollar a peace. I got to looking at the merc, it kinda looks like there is a d.... it is 1916. If you think it is a d, lmk...... Here are some pics, Thanks.

    The D would be much closer to the Branch and torch. With such little diagnostics to go by I would urge you to go to coin facts and look at low grade examples to see if the positioning fits. There could be an D in the right area or it could also be an S.

    I don't think so, I agree with the previous post. Here's a pic of an authentic coin to compare.

    but looks more like an 'S'

    I'd say those coins were a pretty good deal regardless!
