I just picked this one up it is pretty large at 25mm . It looks fake in some wierd way but I am pretty sure it is authentic, what do you all think of it. The price was right that is for sure.

Looks OK to me. A fine example of the type. Flow lines suggest authenticity. If the patina was artificially applied that would be one thing, but it appears natural.

When you yell fake, you need to state why. I hope it is not just because the coin is not worn and corroded. What problem do you see? Did you find a match on a fake coins site?

@dougsmit I stated it looks fake in some weird way cause of the color of the coin and the almost perfect round planchet. I do not feel it is fake was just saying it looked different is all. Also it has a look like a medallion type coin would have. I don't think I yelled fake.

Looks like it still has a lot of silver on it.

It is likely a fake patina applied to a genuine coin.

While I don't see the coin in question as particularly round, round is the normal shape from this mint.

...i think its(the coin) legit, but that looks like recent or applied patina to me...doesn't mean it is tho...:)

The same seller has another FTR Horseman with a similar patina for sale right now.

The coins are supposedly ex-CNG from a group lot though I can't see these particular coins in the CNG lot. There were coins described as having green patina in there.

I received the coin today, the color of the patina in hand looks much better than in the pics I posted by the seller. I will take a few pics with my camera and post it here later on today.

The portrait and vignette look to be described with line alone; there is very little volume in the relief. I think that’s what makes it look unusual.

Earlier I said that the coin appeared to be genuine but covered with a fake patina. In your photo the patina looks genuine, too. You might try rubbing it very hard with a tissue to see if anything comes off, but either way I see no reason to doubt its authenticity.

Here is my Constantius II, inspired by @randygeki that I must have a Speared Horseman. He has an infectious collection, and I watch him for his expertise.

LOL, but ya gotta think he is a purdy sick Dude cuz of the subject matter that he loves! :D 'Course, if they aren't stabbing the Horse, I am good with it!
