Howdy fellow coin peeps, I figured it was time to post the few half-cents I have in my humble little early copper collection, so I'll upload the pics tonight and over the weekend, then post them after I upload each one. That way I can drag this out over several posts and keep you on your toes. I'll go in order from my oldest to newest. 1795 Cohen 6a LCHC: 1803 Cohen 3 DBHC: 1804 Cohen 10 DBHC: That's all for tonight. I'll post the rest over this weekend. Ribbit
That's because there's detail to show. :mouth: The other two are pretty corroded but what the hey, they deserve a home too. Ribbit Ps: I'll go ahead and post 3 more before going to bed tonight. :thumb:
Here are 3 more. 1804 Cohen 13 DBHC: 1805 Cohen 1 DBHC: 1807 Cohen 1 DBHC: I'll post the rest tomorrow. Ribbit
I've only got one Draped Bust half cent. Only needed one for my type set. Got a pretty good one since I only needed one.. And NO Liberty Cap. (Guess what. That means my type set isn't complete. And considering the cost, there's a good chance it will stay that way.)
I would sure like them to be at my home! beauty is in the eyes of the beholder! their of our past & stepping stone of all USA coinage Nice early 1/2 cent coin's toad!!!!!!!
Bout time you post those! Love them...wish they were in my collection...there is nothing like having an old beaten up Liberty Cap...and thinking "what and who has this coin seen?" Post more...:thumb:
That gal was found in Virginia by a Metal Detector enthusiast I know and was probably in the ground for close to 200 years, so her history would be interesting. I've got a 1795 LCC (lettered edge variety) coming from him now and will post it when it shows up. :thumb: Ribbit Ps: Check your PM's gurl.
Nice half cents, Toad! I'm a big fan of the Drapped Bust half cents myself. Wish I could find more. Guy~
Here's the last of my half-cents: 1825 Cohen 2 CHHC: 1828 Cohen 1 CHHC: 1832 Cohen 2 CHHC: That's all for now. Ribbit
I have checked them Toady...give a girl a chance to sit and read and get on the work So much learning to do with these older coins...they've had YEARS for the counterfeiters to try to copy right...soo many fakes out there In the mean time get us up more of your coppers :hammer:
Toad: Nice, but I have to ask: On that 1795, considering the condition, how can you ID the Cohen variety? Or is it just luck and a very obvious variety? Seriously, I could never do it. I find it hard enough (at time) with Overton.
Yup! Read the Attribution Tips here: http://coinfacts.com/half_cents/1795_half_cents/1795_half_cent_c06.htm Then look again at the coin. :kewl: Ribbit
