I have never heard of a Constans from Ambianum, as the mint was opened by Magnentius after Constans had been eliminated. There was however a brief issue for Constantius II and Gallus after the defeat of Magnentius and before the closing of the mint later on in 353.

Seth, I misspoke myself - not Constans, but Gallus. And the second coin was the one I was trying to link to. Those are the images in the auction that got deleted. Did you win the coin? If so, bravo!

 

Unfortunately I was the under-bidder on that one. It was the maximum I could do as I had made other coin-related purchases *and* food-related purchases for the wife, the cat and myself.

 

I feel your pain. I have four kids to feed, three of which are teenagers. My food budget frequently overtakes my coin budget.

 

I think it could've been worse. I could've been a smoker (the taxes on tobacco here are ridiculous) and a picky eater, which I am not (although the cat is).

I kept the picture of that nice Gallus for my records and maybe who knows, one day it'll resurface.
