PMD - Post Mint Damage Not a Mint Error of any kind Your poll makes no sense because it is not an error.
I'm sorry o mighty coin expert of coin errors. I just started collecting and I didn't mention anything about a mint error. Thank you for the negativity
Thank you for the feed back I just started collecting. I have a few other coins I'm going to post here in a little bit look at some more feedback on
You are absolutely welcome.. now life goes on! By the way.. you posted on the Error Coins forum so you assumed it was a Mint Error and your poll states "Has anyone seen this error" and.... Welcome to CoinTalk!
Welcome Joshua, These guys may be ugly and grumpy , but they do know their stuff. If they give an opinion it is usually 98.8% correct on errors. Varieties, well there may be some better, but they tend to have the same personality. Yet if any of these see you are serious and not an escapee from Utube, they will lighten up. Yes, it is damaged outside of minting process so not of extra value for coins. I see the edge has worn more than the faces , so perhaps someone started to grind it down for a reason, or it got caught in a mechanism, either way unless it occurred by the mint process it is plain damage. This forum and coins can become extremely addictive, so start out reading more than posting and you will catch on. Jim
I did post on the error coins forum because I thought it was maybe struck on a different planchette something like that. I didn't think it was a mint mark error. By the way I don't hate you I now love you! Lol. Thank you for the honesty
There is a category called Planchet Errors. One of them being Struck on Wrong Planchet. It does happen. Here is a Nickel struck on incorrect planchet. From my collection. Thanks for not hating me. Peace
Thank you, DesertGem, for providing a much needed sense of welcome to the "newbys" and others who have recently become interested in
What do you think of this nickel? I was thinking maybe it was struck on a dime planchet but I'm not sure I'm no expert. yours is awesome
1965 Dime Planchet was made of Cupro-nickel clad over a copper core. Looks like your Nickel is just worn. The edge was worn away.
It's a small die chip. Interesting, but no extra value. I would recommend starting a new thread for a diff question. The title of the thread refers to a 1960 cent, but your second question is for a dime. Also, use the Full Image feature when attaching pics. It's easier for those viewing. These tips should help new members
