hello, i bought this washington quarter, said was an error, he had lousy pics, and would not send a better one, i wrote him and he said it is guaranteed..i think it is a smoosh or vice job, but before i open a case with him and send it back, what do you think>??? i have about 3 days to return it, so please let me know, i am no way an expert on errors, i collect these because i like errors, but i do not believe this is one... the coin tapers from normal size down to almost a fine edge..
Ayee! You never put pennies on railroad tracks as a kid? Back in the 1900s? Send that puppy back immediately!
13.50 with shipping, but i did have communication with the vendor, gheesh today alone, i got this one, then someone sent me the wrong roll of quarters, and another sent a supposed ms-67 ike with spots, today id just not my day in coin collecting, lol thanks
THANK YOU ALL so much, i am going to return it for a full return...appreciate helping a novice at errors...i thought was hinky that is why wanted second, (and many more ) opinions with those wiser than me self!!
Well, there is a pattern if someone wants to make a silver guitar pick. Silver quarter, big hammer and an anvil.
Here is some advise you can take to the bank. If a seller posts bad pictures, FORGET IT! Don't even follow up on it. 98% of the time it's a scam.
If I were you, I'd do a LOT more research on errors. That quarter is obviously PMD by someone striking it with something. If a selling isn't willing to send better photos or alleviate your concerns, run the other way. They can always fain their own stupidity, but I'd say this seller is just trying to rob people.
well, as i said from the grainy picrures (he said was a scan) it looked somewhat like an off center, and the preice was realistic, no worries i am protected by ebay and pay pal..just have to print a free label and return it (iffin he wants it back) iffin not, then i will just keep as a guitar pick if he refunds and says throw it out
Notice in the smashed tapered area the edge has reeding. In order to have reeding it would have had to have been in the nice round collar when it was struck. So the flattening HAD to have occurred after it was struck.
i figure something was up..that is why asked, thanks..already on it's way back to the vendor....i could not see the reeding in the pictures they were so dark, it looked like an o/c coin..but like i said vendor did not want to send clear pics..no biggy..next time, no good pics, no buy for me..thanks
Next time you should read a bit more about errors before buying something Not trying to knock you but if you do a bit of studying beforehand, you will save yourself a lot of pain in the end.
This kind of junk is for sale on Ebay every day and other websites. The sad thing is that the beat up junk sells for more than the real error coins.
Because people think they can make a quick buck without actually knowing what they are doing. Then they get made when they realize they got swindled.
