What Paddyman said - unless you're at a real estate auction, where I paid $1.00 to $1.50 for bags of one cent coins.
One of the bags of cents had coins in better condition that I had expected.
I won the bid and took them all.
For $70, the silver quarters were a little too expensive for me; $137 per roll of silver quarters was the cheapest price I could find on Saturday.

Welcome to the neighborhood! I see we started collecting in the same year. I got my start by gambling in the local pool room. ~ Chris

Buy a Red Book (A Guide Book of United States Coins) and look it up. And don't assume that if you can read everything on the coin it's bound to be in the top grade.

Please give us a break. I, for one, am trying to learn and sometimes I don't know what is worth posting or not. You can just skip our posts if you think it's not worth the time. I am now armed with better tools to figure things out myself thanks to some helpful members of CT.

...Here’s some info then an open question. First we must agree that the OP IHC is F12. Good. Glad we agree.

    As previously noted...NGC : $8.00.
    USA Coinbook : $8.69.
    Numismedia : $6.00

Why, do you suppose, these price guides are out there?

This is what the coin is worth not what a bargain hunter would offer for it. It is insulting to offer $3.50 for a 6-8 dollar coin...imo...Spark

I mean, the best price I could realize for an 1864 IHC in G-F was just $6, despite "book value"
