Is the hit on the cheek on the coin or the holder?

I look forward to more on Monday.

Taking the photo of such an obviously nice proof coin is not easy. I'll assume that the marks on the obverse field & Roosevelt's cheek are all on the plastic. Also assuming that the marks on the obverse rim are from the plastic. That said, it could be PF66 to PF68........

The photo shows what would be expected to get a cameo or ultra cameo designation.

Look at the coin at different angles & if you have to "look for" the cameo, then it is not cameo. If you look at it at different angles & you always see the cameo affect, then it is a cameo. Look at all the devices on both sides of the coin. Does the cameo really disappear right at the center of the torch? This kind of feature makes me personally start at 68 and then work downward with the grade as necessary. In this coin, with the assumptions above, I find no reason to go below an opinion of PF67 or PF68. OK, my final guess is PF67.5 and it is probably cameo.

Is it the 1962 dime you think is a sleeper or do you think that 1962 high grade proofs in general are sleepers? The population reports kind of reflect the large quantities of 1962 dated cameos seen at shows.

    Very best regards,

He means the coin has a bit of haze on it.

    I'll say 66 Cam.

Don't think NGC would go DCAM on that one, and pending a response on the cheek hit, I'm going to agree with Scrooge -- 66 CAM.

Is it just me or is the reverse strike a little weak?

Regardless I can't grade proofs or MS65+ from pictures... For that matter I have a hard time grading above 65 even with the coins in hand.

Has nothing to do with geography. Mike calles me Scrooge because he thinks I am tough on coins regarding grade.

    And to that I say - Bah - Humbug ! :D
