Richard Stuart had a very comprehensive collection of Central American coins that was dispersed about 3 years ago in different venues. Many were slabbed, some were not and sold in group lots.
I was initially drawn to the BSJ because there was a Br.Honduras 1960 25c in NGC63 - one of the finest I had ever seen. I also got a 1942 5c in like grade.
I noticed that there were some group lots in the same sale, and that one of them had a nice looking 1952 25c ungraded that looked good from the pictures (dangerous thing to do if there is a lot of money at stake - there wasn't though!). This later graded PCGS63 after I sent it in.
Another lot had a 1943 5c in it and it looked like it might be good. That is this coin. In hand it is toned, but not terribly so. This denomination was stuck in a brassy pot metal if there ever was one, and it does REALLY badly in tropical environments. It reminds me a bit of the Guyana Royal Mint currency 1978 5c I showed on these boards a couple of years ago..

fullsizeoutput_19ca.jpeg fullsizeoutput_19c4.jpeg fullsizeoutput_19c1.jpeg I don't know if the photos really show it, but there is no wear or rub and although it is my coin honestly believe it may make 62 (fingers crossed on a 63, not the end of the world). The obverse in hand is very smooth and the photo makes it look like torn up swamp land - maybe not inappropriate given its origins...

Interesting question because the only reference is Krause redone on NGC and says $250 in MS 60. But try to find one, as these are usually at best VF and really took it hard so are usually cleaned.
I guess if in the right venue, and making 62 or 63 that it would have a shot at 500 or so.
