For those small/large date experts: Did I label these correctly?

    No I think they're common.

    Right now? No.

Eventually people will wake up and realize that the small dates are tough in nice condition because there are none of the P, D, or S in the mint sets. The mint set coins come very nice but roll coins are much tougher.

This is one of the few moderns where substantial numbers of rolls and even bags exist but only around 25% are small date. Gems are not scarce but higher grades are. Especially the S mint will prove problematical since most of this mintage was shipped to Denver and the coins mixed in with their cents to discourage hoarding. I believe they even mixed some in with Philly coins. A bag might easily have four different coins in it.

The easiest way to tell these apart is the distance from the obverse rim to the lettering. The change was made in the design to fascilitate a change to aluminum.

with keeping track of 1000 1974's P's here in NYS in the past year in roll searching

the percentage is 23% Large Date and 73% for the small date for me

with the other D & S mintmarks i haven't come across as many to say what the percentage is
