Well tomorrow the new Jeffs go on sale. You all no doubt remember all the hoopla about Virginia getting laws passed to keep Jefferson and Montie on the nickel. I was thinking that an interesting satire piece to their, sort of rebellion, would be Robert E. Lee carved from Jefferson and Traveler from the buffalo. Any nickel carvers that think that might be feasible?

Speaking of which....I bet you'll soon see ebay adds for "Capitol Hill" and "National Nickel Exchange" nickels. Check out this LINK

Hehehe that would be interesting to see indeed! So after this year the nickel will have the old design on it huh.

    No.

In 2006, we'll see a new obverse of Jefferson that we haven't seen before. There's a possibility that the old Monticello reverse will return, but it looks doubtful.

Hmmm I guess those laws didn't pass too well from Virginia then hehe.

The laws did pass. What the law says is that the nickel must return to the Monticello reverse and have Jefferson on the obverse. What the law does not state is what version they must be. We could see a different "veiw" each year. My guess is the '05 Jefferson obverse with a new Monticello reverse for '06.

Actually, I don’t think this is true. In ’06 Monticello must return, in some form. However, the 25 year rule for not changing a design goes back into effect, so whatever they give us next year will be around for a while.
