Take a look at this. I want to know if you guys think that this could go MS-63 like the dealer suggest. Has anyone bought from this guy? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=190257371038&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=009 IMHO, the coin has too many hairlines and a scratch on the check, or at least that is what I can tell from the provided pics. However the coin has great luster and the strike looks great especially the details in the hair.
I also agree with the grade, but that is very lustrous for an MS61. The coin is definitely more attractive than your average MS61 but I don't know about a $40 premium.
IMHO the coin in the auction is accurately graded. As a general rule, if I think that the coin was recently graded and slabbed, it is far less likely to upgrade 2 whole grades. If the holder were older, or if the opinion was whether or not it would grade 62 vs. 61 or 63 vs. 62, then I'd say maybe but this is a brand new slab and although an attractive MS-61, it is nonetheless a 61.
I agree with everyone on the grade, I don't think it would go higher with the photos provided. The coin appears to have great eye appeal, but what is that worth? Deep question I know. I'll pass on the coin but is eye appeal make a coin like this almost twice as much as to what the coin is worth? Some will say yes others no, what do you say?
I can't see that as a 63, I don't know what he's talking about. Go to Heritage as take a look at the 63's. Ruben
<I'll pass on the coin but is eye appeal make a coin like this almost twice as much as to what the coin is worth? Some will say yes others no, what do you say?> On a 61 grade no- The bag marks and dings are just too distracting.
I don't see any wear on the coin, but it does have a ton of marks. I'd say it should be MS60 and no better. But, it does have very nice luster.
I am the seller, and the coin in hand looks like most 63s. I never claimed that it WAS a 63, or would upgrade. Current Coin World Coin Values retail is $100 for a RAW MS62, $60 for a RAW MS60. A certified MS61 that looks better than the stated grade for $85 is a good value. edited
