OK, question. I have a few proof sets and a few mint sets still in the mint wrapper (hard plastic for some and cellophane for others). My question is should I leave them in the boxes/envelopes or should I put them in a Mylar flip (2X2) for the coin and insert them into their respective slots in my collection? Thanks :thumb:
I think it depends on what you want to get out of your collection. I think most here will say if you remove them from their original packaging, their value drops dramatically...which is true only if you plan to sell them someday. But, if you want to enjoy them in a book or a flip, their value for you increases. Value is not always what others will pay for your coins, but mostly how you value and enjoy what you have. Hope this helps. Guy~
That is kinda what I was thinking. But being new to collecting it is always good to have some experienced advice. Thanks
Leave them, unless its a very old proof set and you are going to get the coins certified. Even then I would probably leave them.
