Are you sure the coin is real? The tone missing in some of the protected areas of the reverse seems suspect to me.
I did wonder when I posted if I might get that question. As far as I can tell, it's good, and it did come through a reputable auction house. It does have some hairlines in the obverse fields that suggest a clean at some point in the past.
More of the Thai coins that came 2 days ago. There were 49 others which I already have so I did not take pix of them. Nice big packet!
Not a super valuable coin, but definitely a gorgeous one...and for 20 cents (hiding out in the 5/$1 bin) I couldn't be happier: Mexico - 1937 Mo 5 Centavos
I have a great interest in anything of Christopher Columbus & Napoleon. They are the 2 historical figures that I took a great interest in during my school years & got me into history. I was happy with getting a Spanish 2 reales of Ferdinand & Isabella & a Napoleon 5 francs several years ago. This particular coin is just a nice addition to the Christopher Columbus side. Ferdinando I (Don Ferrante). (1458 - 1494 A.D.) ITALY, Napoli (Regno) AR Coronato Third Coinage, Class 2. O: FRDINANDVS D G R SICI IER V, cross potent; annulet and double annulet stops. R: CORONATVS QA LEGITIME CERTA, crowned bust right; annulet and double annulet stops. C to left. Napoli (Naples) mint. Struck 1472-1488 2.59g 25mm CNI XIX 348/347 (obv./rev.); cf. Mexico - 1979 20 Centavos Doubled Die Obverse (just cherrypicked from a mint set this week) The obverse doubling is extremely strong on pretty much every device on the obverse (seems to be weakest around the E of ESTADOS and strongest on the other side - below the S of MEXICANOS.) I've been trying to find (cherrypick) one of these for a while, so to get a BU example out of a mint set (plus a nice 100 Pesos to boot) kind of made my day. Note: I also cherrypicked a Norway 1925 1 Krone Doubled Die Obverse this week, but it's only an XF/AU. And I had no idea it existed before then...so, less of a "quest fulfilled" moment. But still cool. ALSO: I just noticed that the 1 Peso from the 1979 Mint Set has a really strong die clash on the obverse, right near the eye. COOL!! If anyone wants me to image it, I'll do my best and post it here.
