I would just start buying anything and everything I could. Go to every convention that I could and just buy whatever I felt like until I ran out, just spend it all on any coin I decided was worth the price. Buy, buy, buy, spend, spend, spend.

Good luck if that set is to include a 1922 plain.

    That's easy...the best 1794-96 large and half cents I could find...

Whatever was left over would go towards a nice Saint Gaudens Eagle

the investor in me says to buy several high grade key date coins

the businessman in me says to buy popular mid grade coins and sell them on eBay for a nice profit.

the collector in me says to buy 17th and 18th century German and Russian.

edit: no Russian - the market is inflated right now

I guess it matters if you want to work your coin collection for the rest of your life. Its not that bad of deal if you want to use the $500,00 for inventory.

Hmmm. Guess I'd finish off my Morgan set. Buy a nice high relief St Gaudens double eagle. Then use the rest to take a nice vacation on some remote South Pacific island.

Sorry no vacation, it all has to be spent on coins. :kewl:

Ok, I have a loophole. I'd spend the rest on presidential dollar coins, which in turn I'd use to purchse my vacation reservations. All legit now...I think :D
