The coin has had a hard life. It's damaged.

 

Ya i was thinking that but also why it looked wierd i was thinking the spacing between the letters

There can't be a spacing issue, because the letters are not individual punched working dies.

Working dies are made from working hubs. Working hubs are made from a master die. And a master die is made from the master hub (which can go years before being modified). The Master hub has all the wording and designs, so there is no way for the spacing to be different on your coin
