I am just curious why this modern dime looks normal on one side and just crazy on the other. Environmental damage is likely, but how? The coin is definitely showing it's copper core IRL; this picture isn't the best. I'm not sure if partially-missing clad layer is even a thing. Let me know, cuz you guys are awesome.

    You're correct, it's environmental damage.

How? Who knows. There are countless ways for damage to occur. It did not leave the mint looking like that.

BTW, the copper core is not exposed, nor is it missing a clad layer. It's just coloration from the damage.

I am new here was hoping that some one can tell me how to get permission to post.
I believe I have found a error on a 1821 Morgan silver dollar.
The tail feathers (lines) are missing instead of 6 lines running down between the feet to the end of each feather there are only 3.
    I have pictures.
    Thanks
    Mr. Fred Straine

First, welcome to the neighborhood, Fred!

Once you register, there is a brief period when your info is verified. It's not as serious as a CIA background check and shouldn't take too long. Since you have this post to your credit, it is obvious that you have been cleared.

By the way, have you checked VAMWorld for your 1921 Morgan? ~ Chris

Definitely environmentally damaged. One side was down and the other was up.
