I don't really know how to grade these, but I am going to take a guess and say MS-61. Nice coin! ;)

This is the sellers photos. I expect mine to be higher quality. But thanks for your input.

From what I can see from the photos, there doesn't seem to be any obvious wear and not too many bag marks. I'm crossing my fingers and the only 2 toes I got left. :goofer: I haven't been buying raw coins through ebay for a while so this is an experiment.

Looks very nice, seems to have full luster and few marks. I think this is a great design. Look forward to your pix.

Hard to say for sure based on the pics but the coins looks like it has had some spots removed on the neck - it may be damaged. I would say it has almost certainly been dipped as well.

Anybody have a guess as to what percentage of white Morgans and Peace have been dipped ?

I would say MS63 - probably dipped but not a big deal imo since the luster is intact - nice coin.

Doug, I respect your opinion and you have been accurate on other Peace $s I have purchased and shown here on CT. (And you set me straight on all of them). If you remember there were 2 separate 1921 HR BU Peace Dollars that were nothing like their photoshopped likenesses. I sent those back.

I hope I can keep this one if it lives up to the standard of being a nice BU coin. The fact that it may have been dipped doesn't immediately dissuade me from admiring the coin or even buying it. If the dipping hasn't ruined the luster and it doesn't look bleached, and the coin in in great shape; well I may keep it.

I'm sure that when I post the coin as I see it through my cameras there will be more opinions to bandy about.

But that's what I want. I want to put this out to the experts here in CoinTalk and the rest of us can discuss, argue, Laugh & Cry over our hobby. I know I have.

I only mentioned the dipping because there appears to be some remnants of it - see circled areas.
    Those don't really bother me.

This bothers me - the spots on the neck. See those dark areas - that may be surface damage.

    Doug,

I think that what you see is a result of the lighting and some shadowing! Note that the Reverse has similar glare and shadowing but it is just much lower on the coin due to the positioning of the coin in relation to the lighting source.

IMHO it has not been dipped and from what I can tell from the pics, it appears to be about MS-63/64. However, I am probably wrong as I find Peace Dollars hard to grade.

If it hasn't been cleaned, looks to be a 64 to me. Cheek almost looks clean enough for a 65, but fields/luster look a bit off.

    Bruce,

I aplogize in advance if this comes out as overly harsh or if I have presumed too much....

If you can't ascertain if a coin is cleaned yourself, or aren't confident in your grading skills, why in the heck are you buying raw coins on eBay? Wouldn't you minimize your risk if you purchased a certified coin from an upstanding dealer? You might pay a bit more in the short term, but your risk and long term value would be protected.

While I can certainly understand wanting to "score" on a coin off eBay, I'm just wondering why you're "gambling" with raw coins on eBay, and I am concerned that you will (again) run into problems that are easily avoidable.

    Respectfully submitted....Mike

Might be the pics Frank, then again I might be right. If I am wrong I agree that the coin is an easy 64, I'm just afraid I'm not wrong.

One first impression it is a really nice coin and nothing anyone has said here has yet dissuaded me from it. My first though was this is a 66, but there are some scratches on face of the coin in the right field, so you need to be conservative. I've seen spotting often on the silver of these things. I just get the feeling they never learned to make them right, but this detail is too nice, especially the reverse eagle. The hair detail is wonderful. I'd give it a 64+ on contingency that I'd like to see another picture without the flash.

yeah, I have to see a photo without the flash. Whole details are blinded

Thanks for all your comments. I think that the flash may have obscured something in the field between the L and I and her forehead. And that the flash, in general, obscures things on the coin that may be evident to the naked eye when the coin is in hand. I shall wait and see what's up next for me with this coin. Despite the hassle, it's returnable.

What do you mean it is returnable? First post a cleaner shot of it. And then look at what Doug was saying and report back in. It might be a great coin.
