Heavy polishing? I would say someone used a grinder.
If you mean separation of the letters in LIBERTY? They are normal.

I agree with all of this.

Your coin is just a regular, worn half dollar, that is worth its face value. The cowlick has just been withered away, no errors here.

I think your coin has this type of error. The bridge of nose is also indistinct in your photo. The die wear is from cleaning and abrading, not from polishing.
