I think Cointalk should have a separate category for Counterfeits and Altered Coins

To keep them all in one place, I think we need a separate category. Any thoughts?

I think CT should set up a special account so you guys & gals can deposit money for me. Ain't gonna happen! ~ Chris

Nice if they did.. But then I would want a Metal Detecting forum first! :hungry:

Like Chris mentioned.. Ain't gonna happen.

I would like to see a forum exclusively for Rants. It could be called The Battle of the Bots.

Coin Chat is supposed to be the catch all forum. I think if we had a separate forum for just Counterfeits and Altered Coins, it would be too much of a ghost town.

CC is a little bit of everything that has to do with coins & currency. And as soon as I find any, I'll post 'em.

You have a good point. It will be like a 'Tombstone' Forum.

"To be, or not to be" Most posters wouldn't know to post it under counterfeits if they couldn't tell, so I don't thing it would fly.JMHO

Since we have all of these varied forum requests I say Coin Talk should have a forum request forum.

IMHO it's a great idea. But, I don't think it would work for the simple reason there's not many experts on Coin Talk that can detect counterfeit coins. I feel most members can tell a coin is counterfeit if it's really obvious. @Jack D. Young has an excellent Facebook page where counterfeits are discussed.

I personally think not only is it a good idea, it is actually much needed.

I mean, no offense, metal detecting and tokens/medals really aren't "coins." Metal detecting is a way to find them, and tokens are not monetary instruments. and @Jack D. Young is exactly who I had in mind

Not everyone is as interested in counterfeits and counterfeit detection as a few of us are...

Many of my posts get a handful of responses from primarily the same members which is great, and several have been featured and I appreciate that as well!

And if there were a separate category it may seem a ghost town to those not interested but you wouldn't have to click on it and bother! And those of us interested would at least have a focused place to look for like posts- great idea in my mind (@Peter T Davis).

And anyone wishing to help fund the research I'm all for it:D.

I don't mind either way but I feel that fewer members will see or read the threads. Not sure that's a good thing if the goal is to make others aware of these topics.
