I found a 1982 Lincoln Penny in a penny roll today, and it weighs more then my other 1982's, all the other ones weigh from 2.3 to 2.6 or so, this one weighs 3.10...why is that??? 1982lp309.jpg 1982lp309rev.jpg

Just as others have said, 1982 was the transition year between a 95% copper 5% zinc composition, and a 97.5% zinc 2.5% copper composition. Copper is more dense than zinc, so even though the coins are the same size, they weigh differently.

    OK ignore this.^^^^^^

There are large dates from Philly and Denver that are made both out of copper and zinc. Copper weighing 3.1 and zinc weighing 2.5
There are small dates from Philly in both copper and zinc.
And there are small dates from Denver made in zinc only.
Since Denver only made the small dates in zinc, the 2 small dates that have been found from 1982 from Denver, on copper are very valuable.
