Hello all, The links below are to an 1859 Canadian Large Cent with a double punched nine. Unfortunately, I cannot locate my book to determine which variety it is. So, I am hoping someone might be able to clue me in on whether this is a DP #1 or a DP #2. Thanks in advance! http://www.cdcda.org/ebay-pix/march05/canada-close.jpg http://www.cdcda.org/ebay-pix/march05/canada-obv.jpg http://www.cdcda.org/ebay-pix/march05/canada-rev.jpg
Very nice indeed. That is what I thought, but I did not have the book to check it. Thank you for the response.
Glad to be able to help. I just "discovered" Canadian Large Cents about a month or two ago and have really enjoyed assemling a full set of them. Still have about 10-12 holes to fill plus some upgrading. Along the way I stumbled into the pre-Confederation coinage as well. A very interesting segment indeed.
giladzuc, you should check the date of your 1859. There are several different varities of this coin. An 1859/8 Wide 9, a narrow nine, Repunched Narrow 9 #1 and Repunched Narrow 9 # 2.
I know about 1859/8 from Krause , thanks I looked at the coin , and I saw a regular date, but the coin has a die break , not referred to the date.
