Hong Kong: Love the Standard Chartered Bank's 2003 series... similar to the series they did in the 1980's and 1990's, each denomination features a different animal from Chinese mythology (since they no longer made the 10, the chinze got dropped from the 50, and the dragon carp and dragon turtle got moved from the 10 and 20 to the 20 and 50, respectively). What's new this time around though is the reverse of each denomination features a scene of Hong Kong from different time periods: The 20 shows Hong Kong circal 1850; the 50, 1890; the 100, 1930; the 500, 1970; and the 1000, 2000. Have the 20, 50 and 100 so far and hope to get the last two next month or so. Hong Kong, Standard Chartered Bank, 20 dollars, 2003 Hong Kong, Standard Chartered Bank, 50 dollars, 2003 Hong Kong, Standard Chartered Bank, 100 dollars, 2003 Poland: Two new notes, a 5000 zloty note featuring the composer Frederic Chopin (1810-1849), and a 20,000 zloty note featuring the nuclear scientist Marie Curie (1867-1934): Poland, 5000 zlotys, 1988 Poland, 20000 zlotys, 1989 Slovenia: Not an actual legal tender note, this novelty was produced to celebrate Slovenia joining the Eurozone in 2007. It features the Dragon Bridge, a well known landmark in Ljubljana (Slovenia's capital). Can't pass up the chance to own any dragon banknotes, especially the rarer occurences of such from non-Asian countries! Love this one. Slovenia, 10 talers, 2007 (not legal tender) Misc. A few bargains I picked up at the coin store recently for 1 or 2 dollars a piece. The Ecuadorian one is nice... love the condor on front, and Columbus's ships on the reverse... another highlight is the Yugoslav one, just love the somewhat goofy happy shoveler featured on the front! You can't help but smile when you see it. Ecuador, 1 sucre, 1920 Austria (notegeld), 60 heller, 1921 Nicaragua, 1 centavo, 1991 Yugoslavia, 10 dinars, 1968 Suriname, 10 gulden, 1963 (Scottishmoney would love this one!) Brazil, circa 1964, 5 cruzeiros Indonesia, 50 rupiah, 1964 USA: A couple face value acquisitions... nothing too impressive, but old style bills that you don't see that much of anymore that I saved from the shredder! 10 dollars, Series 1995 5 dollars, Series 1988A (Villalpando has such an elegant signature!) And a star note: 1 dollar, Series 2003A Future plans include trying to finish the 2003 Standard Chartered Bank series from Hong Kong... then work on US $2 bills some more, almost have a series set done of small $2 bills! Then can go after the big ones!
Nice additions Troodon... I like the 1920 and 1921 Notegeld for sure! The Dragon is pretty cool as well. RickieB
That's a real beaut. Need to tell me where you got it, as I need one for my collection. I do have this bus token that commemorates the Dragon Bridge:
Bought it from the www.banknotes.com website; they're $6 a piece. Look for "Slovenia" or "dragon" or such in the search. Note that they appear to be printed on card stock rather than typical banknote paper. Love the design enough for that not to be bother me though lol... 2 of the dragon banknotes I own are also novelties (million dollar bills!). Love that token! May try to find one myself.
LOL I love the Dragon and must get one as well  Great looking notes you have added there Troodon :thumb: And Kuhli that bus token is something to get as well
